Disability dept to get first secretary

After Millennium Post revealed the lack of interest the IAS officers have towards the newly created Department of Disability under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, now there is a buzz in the ministry that a new secretary may take its charge soon.

So far, a single secretary takes care of both the departments. After its former secretary K M Acharya retired, it was Anil Goswami from the Ministry of Home Affairs who has been chosen to head both the Department of Social Justice and the Department of Disability.
Sources in the ministry have said that this issue has been highlighted and brought to the minster Mukul Wasnik's notice. The source added that within this month, a new secretary will be appointed to head the disability department independently.
The Department of Disability was created as a separate entity on 14 May.
