Diptheria claims four children

Four children died within four days due to an infectious disease in a village in Noida. The farmer, Kiran Pal, lost all his children- two sons and a daughter-while his neighbour lost his two-and-a-half-year-old boy on Monday. All the children were below five years of age.
According to sources, the incident took place in Ashepur village in Rabupura police station area.
The first casualty due to the disease took place on Thursday with the death of five-year-old Punit. Subsequently, his sister Kavita, 1 died on Saturday and brother Gaurav, 4, on Sunday. On Monday, Pal’s neighbour’s son Rahul also died, after showing same symptoms.
According to sources a team of medical officers visited the village on Monday afternoon and vaccinated other children. The disease is reportedly diptheria. The CMO could not be contact despite repeated efforts.
