Dikshit washes hands of DJB ‘scam’ responsibility

The scam is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

‘BJP is in the habit of smelling scam out of any project whatever it may be,’ said Dikshit. Dikshit who is also chairperson of DJB said that the investigating agency has only raised certain questions and asked DJB to submit its answers. ‘It is a routine exercise being adopted by the investigating agency,’ she added. She further said that the terms and conditions of tenders are finalisd by officers and technocrats while she, is responsible for major policy decisions.

However, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate said, ‘Dikshit is causing loss to the tune of several crore rupees to DJB in connivance with private companies and economic loss to the people of Delhi in the name of privatisation.’

Demanding her immediate removal from the post of chairperson, Vardhan said: ‘A judicial officer must be appointed as chairman of DJB.’ He alleged that DJB contracts were awarded to Dikshit’s favourite contractors without any competitive bidding process.

He further alleged that Dikshit has committed and is still committing frauds worth crores of rupees in the name of PPP projects in Nangloi, Malviya Nagar and Vasant Kunj areas. ‘The latest scam is in the purchase of about 4 lakh water metres. These metres were purchased at the cost of Rs 5,070 each whereas its actual cost is only Rs 995. In addition, one lakh metres whose actual cost is Rs 600 each have been purchased at the cost of Rs 1,457,’ he alleged.
