Dikshit unfurls flag for 15th time

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit unfurled the national flag on the eve of the 64th Republic Day at Chhatrasal stadium. With this, she became the only chief minister in the northern India to unfurl the flag on Republic Day consecutively 15  times. She also inspected the parade and received guard of honour.

While elaborating development works in Delhi Dikshit said that traffic situation in city has eased substantially with coming up of 75 flyovers, including Mukarba Chowk, AIIMS, Dhaula Kuan and ITO Chungi. The traffic would be congestion free after commissioning of Signature Bridge over river Yamuna in the next few month.

The chief minister assured that the extension of existing Barapulla elevated road would begin soon. She also made number of announcements and vowed to make Delhi the finest city in the world. She presented awards to sports achievers and outstanding coaches. Delhi ministers Kiran Walia, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Ramakant Goswami, chief secretary D M Spolia, chairman (Public Grievance Commission) P K  Tripathi and principal secretaries/secretaries were also present on the occassion apart from a large number of schoolreviewichildren.

Dikshit stated that Delhi is a welfare state in real sense as the government has been able to grant ownership rights in 45 resettlement colonies. The residents of these colonies have been facing difficulties due to lack of property title and poor civic services.
