Dikshit tells agencies to ensure lit streets on Diwali

In the wake of the festival of lights, chief minister, Sheila Dikshit has given specific instructions to all agencies responsible for street lighting in the city to ensure all streetlights functional during festive days. Delhi government has also stated that the lapse in this regard would not be tolerated, as Diwali is a festival of lights, hence it becomes responsibility of the city government to ensure proper lighting across the city to enable people to celebrate festival with joy and religious fervour. Meanwhile, Dikshit has appealed people not to use crackers as it would add to the problems of Delhi. Parliamentary secretary to chief minister, Mukesh Sharma also said that the pollution level in the city must be mitigated by keeping away from crackers.
