The newly elected president of Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vijay Goel believes it would be impossible for the ruling party to tide over the anti-incumbency factor. In a brief interaction immediately after taking charge, he shared his view with Siddheshwar Shukla. Edited excerpts:
What would be the major issues BJP will back in the upcoming Delhi assembly election?
Power and water are two big issues, which affect every citizen of Delhi. People must avenge their sufferings from the Congress government in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls.
But BJP focused on these issues in the last Delhi assembly and other elections as well.
People are fed up with false promises of the Congress government in Delhi. They have made up their mind to throw out this inefficient government from Delhi. Kath ki handi bar bar nahi chadti.
What are the major anti-incumbency factors this time?
The voters had elected Congress three times with much expectations but Sheila Dikshit government ditched them always. She used to pretend to work for the people only in the election year but does nothing during the other four years. She always used her marketing tricks to lure the people, but now she is exposed.
What is your take on other parties in Delhi ?
The election would be primarily between BJP and Congress.
What is your prime focus as the president of Delhi BJP?
I will dedicate myself to fulfil the trust and confidence entrusted in me by our National president Rajnath Singh and senior party leaders by discharging the responsibilities to the best of my capabilities.
