Diarrhoea scare in G Noida village; one child dies, 30 ill

A team of doctors equipped with medicine and ambulance have been stationed in the village and have admitted majority of the patients to the hospital. Doctors have said the situation is under control but they are taking all possible measures to prevent the disease from spreading any further.

Meanwhile, the villagers have claimed that around 225 children have been affected with the disease so far.

According to health officials, two days ago some children of Birampur village had gone to a local paddy field and developed symptoms of nausea, fever, and dehydration. Their parents admitted those children to a local hospital where their condition deteriorated upon which the district administration swung into action.

In a span of few hours, more such cases were reported from the village and a team of doctors rushed to the spot immediately. In the meantime, Tanya (5) succumbed to the disease in a private hospital which caused panic in the village.

RK Garg, chief medical officer informed that the children came in contact with poisonous pesticides spread in a paddy field due to which they fell ill. ‘We have diagnosed the disease and found symptoms of chemically-endorsed-diarrhoea. A team of ten doctors equipped with medicines and four ambulances have been stationed there. The children are recovering and the situation is under control,’ he said.

Meanwhile, local residents claim that the number of diarrhoea-affected patients would be much higher than the official figures and situation of most of the children is critical. The locals also claimed that the child had died on Friday due to unavailability of proper medical care. Shatish Chand Shukla, sub-divisional magistrate informed that the administration has started a cleanliness drive in the entire area to prevent more such cases.
