Dharmendra Pradhan pushes for greater CSR

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stressed on the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in achieving sustainable development. Speaking on Wednesday at the inaugural session of the International Conference on Sustainable Business Models: Innovative Strategies and Practices organised by the Department of Commerce, Shyam Lal College, DU, he said: “Sustainability is essential not just in today’s business world but also critical in how the government and each of its ministries function.” The different sessions marked an exchange of thoughts by the best minds from all over the world on the burning issues of sustainability and innovation, in a world that is marred by challenges of climate change, equitable growth and dwindling ethics. The various plenary and technical sessions were chaired and addressed by luminaries like Prof Johannes Frederik Cronje (South Africa), Prof Kaisa Sorsa (Finland) and Prof Richard Cohen (USA). “Not just the students but industry experts, government representatives and members of the global academia, came out richer from the exchange,” said Dr Rabi Narayan Kar, the college principal.
