Develop students’ interest in science to boost innovation, says Manoj Sinha

Union Minister Manoj Sinha on Sunday stressed on the need to encourage students to take <g data-gr-id="17">keen</g> interest in science in order to boost innovation. Inaugurating a five-day ‘Inspire Internship Science Camp’ at the Banaras Hindu University under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Sinha put the onus on teachers to encourage students to develop interest in the subject.

“Science is an interesting subject and it is the duty of our teachers to encourage students to take <g data-gr-id="21">keen</g> interest in it and to create a platform for innovation,” he said. Sinha emphasised that there is a need to raise more investment in Research and Development in this sector.

The ‘Inspire Internship Science Camp’ was initiated by former President late APJ Abdul Kalam to generate interest among students in science.

The ‘Inspire’ programme is part of ‘Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent for Science (SEATS)’ coordinated  and sponsored by the DST, the Government of India. The camp aims to promote interest in science and explore brighter avenues. Students are sensitised towards challenges and induced with a feeling of pursuing a career in the field.
