In a chain snatching incident at Bhajan Pura area in north-east Delhi, the victim, a woman in her early 30s showed immense courage and fought the snatchers back.
‘On Wednesday, at 6 pm, Mona Gupta, a resident of Bhajan Pura area was walking by the market, when suddenly two men in a bike halted in front of her, and snatched her gold chain,’ said an eye witness.
But the woman apparently kicked the bike down, making them fall. ‘Then the goons fired four rounds of shots, which scared the people in the market, but no one was injured,’ said a vegetable vendor.
The two jumped on bike of a Mohammed Alam, parked nearby, and made their way out with the gold chain.
‘The locals mistook Alam as another thief and started to beat him until the police intervened,’ said an eye witness.
The snatchers are still at large. ‘ Investigations are on. We have ceased the bike, which is also stolen one,’ said a police official.
