Despite no decision on LS tickets, BJP leaders begin canvassing for votes

With just 17 days left for filing nomination papers, Delhi BJP is pressing its national leadership to declare candidates for all seven seats in the city at the earliest to give enough time for candidates for poll preparations.

‘We have a lot of work to do in a very short period of time. We can expect names to be announced for Delhi in the second list, expected on March 13,’ said Nitin Gadkari, member of the parliamentary board. However, Gadkari evaded a direct reply on the issue and said, ‘We are yet to decide on the candidates selected for the elections’.

On whether the party is willing to field sitting MLAs in the Lok Sabha elections he said that the leaders in the party are divided on the issue but he is in favour of not fielding sitting MLAs for MPs.

However, the party has not announced candidates. However some of them have already started canvassing for elections by putting up their posters in their expected constituencies and intensifying public contacts.

In east Delhi, Mahesh Giri a member of Art of Living, has almost started total political canvassing by organising public meetings and putting up hoardings. However, Virendra Sachdeva is another candidate in the fray from the seat where Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Rajmohan Gandhi.

Similarly in north west Delhi, former chairman of standing committee of MCD, Yogendra Chandolia, has started his campaign and has ventured door to door. However former MP Anita Arya and Ashok Pradhan, MP from Bulandshahar, are also in the fray for the ticket. From west Delhi, sitting MLA Jagdish Mukhi, former cricketer Navjot Singh Siddhu and senior BJP leader VK Malhotra are in line.
