A retired CRPF commandant shot himself at his south Delhi residence on Saturday. No suicide note was recovered by the police.
Brij Bhushan Sharma (75), who retired from CRPF in 1993, shot himself on the head with his licensed revolver. He committed suicide in the bathroom of his residence at Munirka Vihar in south Delhi, police said.
He further said, Sharma lived in the south Delhi apartment with his son, who reported the incident to the police around 9.30 am.
Police reached the spot and had to break the bathroom door after which the retired officer’s body was found lying. The body was soon sent for autopsy, said the police official. He further said, ‘No suicide note has been found from Sharma’s residence but it later emerged that Sharma was depressed since some time.’
‘The reason behind his depression couldn’t be ascertained. However, one of the neighbours hinted at an old property dispute,’ said a source. The deceased was a widower. He is survived by his two sons. While one of them, who is divorced and differently-abled, lived with him in the south Delhi apartment, the other one lives in Nigeria and works there, the source added.
