‘Deploy disaster management squads for festivities’

‘During Diwali and Chhath Puja days lakhs of people travel by trains towards Poorvanchal (eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar). Very often reports of stampede or small mishaps have been reported from railway stations during these days therefore Delhi Police should ensure safety at railway stations especially New Delhi, Delhi and Anand Vihar stations,’ cautioned Upadhayay in his letter to both the top officers. He further urged Delhi Police to ensure safety of Chhath Vratis at puja spots and in colonies with large populations of Poorvanchal and people from Bihar ensure on 28 and 29 October in Delhi.

He wrote to the municipal commissioners and demanded Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to make adequate water arrangements at all Chhath puja spots while health department should ensure emergency stationing of ambulances with doctors and ensure best possible sanitary arrangements should be ensured. MLA Ram Kishan Singhal also met chief secretary of Delhi, DM Spolia in view of arrangements for ‘Chhath Puja festival’ at Western Yamuna Canal from Haiderpur to Ashok Vihar.
