Irked over denial of ticket from Mandla constituency for assembly elections this month, Devi Singh Sayyam, MP minister of state for rural development, quit BJP on Saturday.
‘I have sent my resignation to district president Pramod Jain,’ the minister said. Sayyam, who had earlier won from Mandal constituency three times in a row, accused BJP of deceiving him.
Singh said he had followed the directions of the party and also spent money on election preparations but still he was denied a ticket. The party chose to field district panchayat president, Sampatiya Uike, from Mandla. Singh would consult supporters before taking decision on contesting as an independent candidate, Singh added.
