Dempo gets better of Churchill, Pune FC pip Bengaluru

Jeje Lalpekhlua did the star turn for Dempo Sports Club as his first-half strike proved decisive in his team’s 1-0 win over defending champions Churchill Brothers in an I-League match at Duler Stadium in Mapusa here on Wednesday. The all-important goal came in the 15th minute through Jeje Lalpekhlua, helped Dempo move to eighth place with 10 points from eight matches. Churchill Brothers who are yet to win a match remained on 12th place with three points from eight matches. Shillong Lajong drew 1-1 at home to Mohun Bagan in a round 9 I-League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday evening. A penalty from Cornell Glen and a strike from Zakeer Mundampara earned a point for each side. Pune FC pipped Bengaluru FC 1-0 at home on Wednesday. James Meyer scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute for Pune.
