Delhi's own jinxed sarkari bunglow finds taker finally

No high profile officers and ministers dare to stay in 33 Shamnath Marg bunglow until now.  After lying vacant for several years, on Monday 79 batch IAS Officer Shakti Sinha took possession.

Believe it or not, the reason why no one wanted to live there is because of the jinx attached to the place. It is believed that whoever resides in this bungalow will have a downfall. The fact that when the bunglow was occupied by Delhi industries minister Deepchan Bandhu he lost his life added to the jinx.

Four politicians have stayed at 33,Shamnath Marg, so far, but not a single occupant has been able to complete his full term in office while staying there. In fact, Delhi's first CM, Chaudhary Brahm Prakash, had to quit office before completing his term when he moved into the bunglow in 1952.

Madan Lal Khurana, who was allotted this bungalow when he became CM of Delhi in 1993. He  had to resign in 1996 due the hawala scandal. Before Khurana, Choudhury Mange Ram, an executive councillor, was allotted 33, Shamnath Marg as official accommodation, but had to quit before completing his term for 'personal reasons'.

With nobody ready to occupy 33, Shamnath Marg, the Delhi government converted it into an official guest house of sorts, and held press conferences and Iftar parties here. According to sources, Sinha was told about the jinx yet he insisted on moving in. Now, all eyes are watching to see if the jinx will come true one more time.
