Delhiites heave a sigh of relief as temp dips below 40 degrees Celsius

It was a sultry day in the national Capital on Sunday, though the maximum temperature settled below the 40 degree mark, providing some relief to Delhiites.

The Safdarjung observatory, whose reading is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded the maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the minimum temperature settled at 26.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, a Meteorological department official said.

Humidity level oscillated between 60 and 37 per cent. The Meteorological department has predicted partly overcast conditions for on Monday.

“The skies will be partly cloudy with thundery developments and lightning to occur towards tomorrow evening and night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 39 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively,” the weatherman said.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 25.4 degrees Celsius. On Friday, some parts of  the city and the National Capital Region had received a brief spell of showers.
