Delhiites experience pleasant day

It was a pleasant day in the national Capital which recorded a steep fall in mercury with the maximum temperature hovering much below the 40 degrees mark even as the humidity levels shot up.

The Safdarjung observatory, considered the official figure for the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average and down by 5.3 degrees from Monday’s maximum.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday settled at 23.1 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal, said a MeT department official. The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal, the official said.

The weather station at Safdarjung recorded 10.2 mm rainfall till 8.30 am while the areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Ridge observatories recorded showers measuring 10.6 mm, 8.5 mm, 5.6 mm and 6.2 mm respectively during the same period.

The humidity in air shot up and oscillated between 93 and 37 per cent. The MeT Office has forecast rains towards night.

The weatherman has predicted overcast conditions along with possibility of light rain and thunderstorm in some areas towards Wednesday afternoon and evening.

“The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rain and thunderstorm is likely to occur in some areas towards tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon and evening,” the official said, adding the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 37 and 25 degrees on Wednesday.

On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.9 degrees Celsius, while the minimum had settled at 30.5 degrees Celsius.
