Youth in inebriated state chase Smriti Irani's car, booked

Union Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday lodged a police complaint alleging that her car was chased by some youth near Moti Bagh flyover in Delhi. Delhi Police immediately swung into action and booked the four college students, who were driving a Hyundai Santro car.

The incident reportedly took place around 5 pm on Saturday, when Irani was in her car near the Myanmar Embassy at Nyaya
Marg in Chankyapuri.

She suddenly noticed that her car was being followed by a Santro car. The occupants of the Santro car also reportedly tried to chase and repeatedly overtake Smriti's car, which irked the minister.

After the youth in the car tried to harrass the minister and her staff, the Santro car was soon intercepted near the French Embassy at Shanti Path in Chankyapuri.
The minister later decided to lodge a formal complaint, after which police was called. Later, police registered an FIR at Chanakyapuri Police station.

The four boys were apprehended and brought to the police station and the boys were sent for medical test in the evening.

Police sources confirmed that the youth were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

"The medical of the four boys was conducted and they were found to be in an inebriated state. We are
taking proper legal action in accordance with the complaint received from the minister's staff" said Additional DCP, New Delhi,
Rajendra Meena.
