In yet another shocking incident, a fake Rs 2,000 note was dispensed by a private bank's ATM in South-east Delhi's Amar Colony. The cops have registered an FIR and are investigating the case seriously. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch.
The incident was reported by Chandan, a resident of Delhi, who went to the ICICI bank ATM situated in Amar Colony. As the machine dispensed the amount, he was shocked to see a fake Rs 2,000 note with the inscription Children's Bank of India instead of Reserve Bank of India. After showing the fake note to the locals in the market, Chandan called the cops. When the cops visited the ATM, Chandan showed them the fake note. The cops then sealed the ATM and a case was registered.
"The Investigating Officer reached on the spot and found that a fake note indicating prints of Children's Bank of India and Manoranjan Bank was told to be dispensed from the ATM machine to the complainant. A case under Sections 489 c/489 d was registered," said DCP (South-east) Romil Baniya.
Earlier, a similar case was reported from Delhi's Sangam Vihar where a BPO employee received fake Rs 2,000 notes. The cops then arrested a man working in the cash loading company for placing the fake notes. The second case coming from the same district has raised serious questions of an organised racket working in the area meticulously changing the original notes with the fake ones.
