YEIDA land scam: Police detain four for questioning

Greater Noida: Following an alleged land scam case worth Rs 126-crore in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the Gautam Budh Nagar police are yet to reach the main accused in the case as they have been absconding since the matter came to light.
On Monday night, police detained four persons in order to question them seeking some leads about the scam. According to police, the land scam case has been registered against former CEO of YEIDA, P C Gupta, who along with his family members allegedly purchased a not needed land from farmers, in Bajna area of Mathura, at lower rates and sold it to authority at around double rates which made a huge financial loss to the authority.
Police registered an FIR into the matter and launched a probe. As a part of investigation police raided the residences of the main accused on Monday and it was found that Gupta and tehsildar Suresh Chandra, prime accused in the case, were found to be absconding as they had left their residence.
Following the case, police detained some persons to know their where about and clues about the scam.
"As we found that the prime accused persons in the case were absconding from their residence, we picked up four people to get their location and move ahead with the investigation. However, none of them have any idea about the whereabouts and scam. Moreover police also found that the addresses of many accused in the case are fake and mostly everyone is absconding," said a senior police officer.
