Work on laying sewer lines in Rithala colonies inaugurated
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister and Delhi Jal Board chairman Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday inaugurated work of laying down a sewer line in Budh Vihar group of colonies in Rithala in north west Delhi.
The work of providing and laying 280 to 1,000 mm nominal dia internal and peripheral sewer lines, throughout 161 km in Budh Vihar group of colonies falling under Rithala and Rohini waste water treatment plant catchment area, will benefit 3.29 lakh residents in the area.
The inauguration programme was also attended by DJB vice-chairman Dinesh Mohaniya, Rithala MLA Mohinder Goyal and senior officials of the Board.
The estimated cost to be incurred on the project is Rs 79.69 crore and will be completed in 42 months.
At present, the sewage/waste water in these colonies is being discharged into river Yamuna through various drains and nallahs, causing pollution in the river.
After the completion of the project, the sanitation condition of the area will improve as well as will help in lessening pollution in the river.
There are 19 colonies in the Budh Vihar group, namely Chandu Lal Colony, Veer Singh Colony, Budh Vihar Phase-1, Budh Vihar Phase-II, Budh Vihar Extension, Mangeram Park, Mangeram Park Extension, Harsh Dev Park, Vijay Vihar Phase-I, Vijay Vihar Phase-II, Gopal Vihar Colony, Krishan Vihar, Harsh Dev Colony, Shiv Colony, Slum Colony Pooth Kalan, Gram Sabha Pooth Kalan, Munshi Vihar, Paul Vihar and Hargovind Vihar.
