Woman's chopped body found in bag

NEW DELHI: The dismembered body of a woman was found inside a bag in southeast Delhi's Sarita Vihar area on Thursday morning. The police were immediately informed and when the cops reached the spot, they found the body chopped into several pieces and stuffed inside a bag. The area was cordoned off and forensic and crime teams were rushed to the spot. Photographs of the spot were taken and a detailed report was made. However, cops could not identify the body of the woman. Efforts are being made to identify her so that it becomes easier to apprehend the killer.

A PCR call at 8:12 am on June 21 was received at Sarita Vihar police station regarding two unknown bags at a vacant roadside plot near Haji Colony area of Sarita Vihar. On inspection of the bag, a human body was found. A police crime team inspected the bag and found the dismembered body of an unknown female. Her hands and limbs were found dismembered," said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.

The body was sent to the mortuary and a case under section 302 and destruction of evidence was registered and investigation into the case was taken up by South East Police. Cops suspect the woman has been murdered somewhere else and the killer dumped the body in the vacant plot in the isolated area. Cops are also trying to find the CCTV cameras on the route to find out if the killer had left any digital footprints.

Police suspect the killer would be well aware of the topography of the area as the place to dump the body was selected meticulously since the area is often secluded.
