New Delhi: A 38-year-old woman teacher was shot dead by armed assailants on Monday morning when she was going to the government school in Haryana. Meanwhile, police have started questioning the woman's husband to get a clue in the case. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini, Rajneesh Gupta claimed that unknown assailants fired on her and she received three bullet injuries two in the chest and one in the stomach.

Describing the sequence of the event, the DCP claimed that on Monday at around 8.05 am, a PCR call was received about a lady injured by bullet in Bawana area near a Gaushala while going towards Auchandi Border. The deceased identified as Sunita, teacher in Govt Senior Secondary School Ferozepur (Haryana), was going on her scooty to the school in the morning. Unknown assailants fired on her. Investigators claimed that the passersby who was crossing the street first thought that it was an accident as woman along with her scooty were lying on the road but when the person came close to the spot, injuries were found and the crowd started to gather at the spot. She was taken to hospital by the passersby where she was declared brought dead by the doctor. Her postmortem has been conducted at another hospital.

Manjeet's brother Sanjeet claimed that they came to know that she used to go daily from the same area, her school was 10 kilometres away from the home. "We came to know that the accused shot her and when she fell down, the accused continued to fire at Sunita and also threatened another passerby with the gun," claimed Sanjeet. He further claimed that they did not have any enmity with anyone and the assailants should not have killed a teacher. "Life was going very smooth in the family but now this incident has left us shattered," added Sanjeet. The spot where the incident took place is close to Bawana police post. A few years back, the woman had shifted to Bawana area; earlier she was living in Sonipat.

Sunita is survived by one 16 years old daughter, and a son, 8 years. When asked about the reason behind the incident, the DCP claimed that apparently, the motive is not robbery and the investigation is going on.
