Woman, paramour held for killing her husband

A 30-year-old woman was arrested for killing her husband with the help of her lover, police said on Wednesday.

Mohsina and her lover were found accused of strangling her husband Nazaqat. They concealed the body of the deceased in the forest area near NTPC railway line, Dadri. The woman then registered a police complaint about her missing husband at Surajpur police station.

Nazaqat, 35, used to stay with his wife Mohsina and four children in Santosh Nagar colony of Surajpur area.

"We received a complaint from the relatives of the deceased that he was missing from home since March 10. After questioning the victim's relatives and neighbours, we came to the conclusion that Mohsina and her lover are the main accused. She was involved in an illicit relationship with a person for some years. She was nabbed by police and during interrogation she revealed that she and her lover murdered Nazaqat and hid his body in a secluded forest area near NTPC railway line," said Anuj Kumar, SHO, Surajpur police station.

"Prima facie evidence tells that they killed Nazaqat by constricting his neck. Fearing that they would get caught, the two hid his body and registered a missing complaint. The victim's relatives and neighbours gave us information that Mohsina had been involved with the other suspect lover for a while," added Kumar.

"More than half of the body was decomposed and eaten up by wild animals. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the accused woman is in police custody. We will interrogate her further to get more details," the SHO added. Mohsina told police that she had been in a relationship with her lover since before her marriage and they together hatched a plan to eliminate Nazaqat. Police suspect that the murder was also done to acquire the property of the deceased.
