Woman labourer mowed down in road mishap

Gurugram: In a fatal road accident on Sunday afternoon, three labourers were struck down by an over-speeding vehicle at Rajiv Chowk here, along the National Highway-8.

A woman labourer lost her life, while two other workers are in the hospital in critical condition, police said.

Cops added that they have arrested the driver who was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

The incident is one among the several deadly accidents that have been reported of late at Gurugram's Rajiv Chowk.

Last month, two fatal accidents occurred at the Rajiv Chowk underpass, which claimed two lives.

Drunken drivers continue to pose a challenge to the safety of citizens on roads in Gurugram, despite the deployment of traffic police personnel to improve the conditions at various busy routes. There have been incidents in the past where commuters have been struck by drivers who were intoxicated.
