Woman labourer dies after metal rod falls on her head

GURUGRAM: A woman labourer and mother of four died after a metal rod fell on her head from the floor of a construction site on Thursday. Police said on Friday the incident occurred at a construction site in Gurugram's Sector-52.

Sources also stated that the victim Omvati Devi was not provided with proper safety gears, which led to her death.

Cops said a case has been registered against the two contractors at Sector-53 police station, who went absconding after the incident.

They have been charged under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

"We have sent a team to Rajasthan where the contractors are believed to have fled. After the incident took place, the victim was immediately rushed to the government hospital, where she was declared brought dead on arrival," said a senior Gurugram Police official.
