Woman, infant son mowed down by truck in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: A mother and her minor son were killed, while two others were injured, after the scooter they all were travelling on was hit by a speeding truck, said police.
The incident occurred on Thursday at NH-24 near Masuri area in Ghaziabad.
The woman, identified as Mahibeena, was travelling to her native district of Bulandshahar via NH-24 with her family to see a doctor for her two-year-old son Saif, who was in need for medical treatmetn.
Police sources said that four people travelling on the scooter. As soon as the truck hit the scooty, the driver fled the spot, leaving the truck behind.
Satyendra Pratap Singh, station house officer, Masuri police station, told mediapersons, "The incident occurred near AKG Engineering College at NH-24 on Thursday morning. Passersby informed police about the incident and a police team rushed to the spot.
"The victims were taken to the hospital, where doctors declared the mother and son brought dead. Two others are undergoing treatment and their condition is stable," Singh further said.
The injured have been identified as Mahibeena's husband Yusuf and his mother Momina.
"The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. We have registered an FIR against the unidentified truck driver and will try to identify the accused driver through local people," added Singh.
