Woman found dead behind house in Vivek Vihar, caretaker missing

NEW DELHI: A 42-year-old woman was found murdered near a vacant house in Vivek Vihar area of Shahdara on Saturday morning.

Delhi Police said they received a call about the discovery of the woman's body around 9.25 am, lying in the backyard of the house.

A police team reached the spot but found no visible injuries on the woman's body, who was lying face down with a small amount of blood coming out of her nose.

Moreover, the caretaker guard of the house, which has been vacant for a long time, was missing from the spot.

"We have identified the deceased lady as a resident of Ghaziabad. The missing guard has been identified as Sushil, a resident of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh," said Meghna Yadav, DCP (Shahdara).

It is still a matter of investigation as to how the woman came to Vivek Vihar.

Preliminary investigation points to the caretaker guard being the suspect and teams have been formed to locate for him. It is yet to be determined whether he was involved in the woman's murder.

Sources claimed that the owner of the house stays abroad and the house keys are left with Sushil.

Meanwhile, cops have sent the woman's body for post-mortem. Whether or not she was sexually assaulted before the murder will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is furnished.
