New Delhi: A 24-year-old woman from Nepal with her three-year-old child came to Delhi nine months ago, with the hope that she would get a job and from the money she earned, she will feed her child.
However, the reality turned out to be something different: she was forcefully confined to a brothel in GB Road area.
Police said they have registered a case under IPC sections of kidnapping and rape, and search is on for the accused. The woman was rescued and reunited with her child.
According to police, the woman was rescued in March after a raid conducted on the brothel. She claimed that she hails from Nepal and was lured by another woman of her country.
After she reached Delhi, her child was taken away from her and she was confined to the brothel, where she claimed of sexual assault.
"The accused had threatened her that if she did not follow their orders, they would harm her child," said a police officer.
Police claimed that they got a tip-off which led to her rescue and her child who was kept with a family in Ghaziabad was reunited after nine long months.
During the raid, the police also rescued four girls and investigation is going on whether they are minor or not.
Police further claimed that the names of two people, who were arrested by Delhi Police in 2016 for running a prostitution racket in GB road area, have surfaced once again, as they are suspected to be the owner of the brothel.
They are currently booked under the non-bailable Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
DCP (Crime) Joy Tirkey stated that they are investigating the fact. "The teams are regularly keeping a tab whether any girls or women are forcibly confined to the brothel and whenever any information come to us, quick action is taken," said Tirkey.
In the last three years, more than 300 cases of Human Trafficking was reported in National Capital, revealed the data of Delhi Police.
The data, accessed by Millennium Post, claimed that 174 cases were registered in 2015, whereas in 2016, the numbers dropped to 66 cases. "Last year 76 cases were registered with city police," claimed the data.
