New Delhi: A woman and her 18-month-old son were found murdered in North West Delhi's Jahangirpuri area. Police claimed that the husband is suspected to be the killer as he was absconding after the incident. Two children were also there when the incident took place.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Sunita and the minor child who lived with her family in Jahangirpuri area. She got married in the year 2005 with Prakash and the couple was having strained relations ever since then.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan stated that at about 8.30 am on Tuesday, a double murder was reported from G Block of Jahangir Puri area. "Husband of the deceased woman is suspected to be behind the gruesome incident. He is absconding at present," said the DCP. Police claimed that the PCR call was made by the brother of the suspect after which police team reached the spot and found two bodies lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The wall of the room had also blood spot. "The woman lived on the first floor of the house. Her relative came and knocked the door when no one replied he found something suspicious," said the DCP.
Inside the room, police team found two children of the deceased. The six-year-old child claimed that his mother was killed by a brick. "Injuries found on the head of the deceased suggest that blunt objects were used," said a police officer. The officer further claimed that it was dark when the murder took place so they cannot tell about the weapon of offence but from the spot, they have found dagger and hammer with the blood stain. "The child we suspect was attacked by the hammer as no stab injuries were there," said a police official.
Police claimed that husband and wife were having strained relationship after the marriage. Arguments were regular between husband and wife. There were also cases of dowry and harassment which was later settled. For few years the woman also lived at her parents' home where the accused used to visit for meeting his child.
"The family had shifted to Jahangirpuri," said the DCP. Police have formed several teams to nab the suspect. A case under appropriate sections has been registered in this regard.
