Woman among four arrested for extortion, posing as media persons

Ghaziabad: Four persons including a woman has been arrested by police after they were found to be allegedly extorting money posing as fake media persons in the name of sting operation, said Ghaziabad police on Sunday.
According to the police, the arrested persons have been identified as Kishan Kant, Shakeel, Layak and Naina, all natives of Ghaziabad district.
Police said that the gang members created fake ID cards of some media channels and newspapers.
"On Saturday, we received a complaint from a local physician that a woman along with his three accomplices came to his dispensary in the day time and started taking photographs after putting a lock from inside. They threatened him to show the photographs on their news channel as he is doing an illegal job," said a senior police officer.
The officer further said that they demanded Rs 1 lakh from the physician in order to delete the photographs.
"The accused persons demanded Rs 1 lakh from the physician. However, he paid them Rs 20,000 and got the photos deleted. He then reached the nearby police station and registered a complaint against them. The police registered an FIR and launched a probe. All the four persons were arrested from Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Sunday," the officer added.
Cops seized three mobile phones, Rs 10,000 cash and fake ID cards of different media houses from the possession of the accused persons.
