Woman alleging rape by MP arrested on extortion charges

On Tuesday morning, the Delhi police team arrested the woman who alleged that she was raped by Bharatiya Janata Party MP from her residence in Ghaziabad's Indrapuram.
She was arrested on charges of extortion and prevention of corruption Act.

The MP alleged that the woman had honey-trapped him and later filmed him in objectionable positions.

Following this, she demanded Rs 5 crore refrain her from spreading the video. Later, she was produced before the court and remanded to police custody for five days.

The woman was identified by investigators on Monday itself following Gujarat's Valsad MP K C Patel lodging a complaint claiming that he was filmed in objectionable conditions after serving him soft drinks laced with sedatives.

The complaint was lodged in North Avenue police station. The woman too has alleged that she was raped on several occasions by KC Patel, the BJP MP hailing from Valsad, Gujarat.
"We have arrested the woman on charges of extortion and Prevention of corruption act. The woman has installed CTV cameras and recorded the intimate scenes. We are investigating if this is a part of organised extortion racket," said Mukesh Kumar Meena, Special Commissioner of Police.

She had approached the court after police had initially refused to register a case. The court then ordered Delhi Police to report back to it on May 12 after investigating the case.
The woman claimed she had filmed the MP's conduct for her own safety.

Patel, in his complaint, claimed he was drugged and filmed by the woman who later demanded Rs 5 crore from him for not making public the objectionable pictures and video.

She also stated that she was threatened by the MP who said his party is in power in Delhi and Gujarat and he could deal with any threats like filing of FIRs against him.

In his police complaint, Patel claimed that the woman had sought his help and took him to a house in Ghaziabad where he was served soft drinks laced with sedatives.
Following this, he was filmed in objectionable positions.

"Earlier, this woman has lodged a similar case against a Haryana MP in 2016 in Tuglaq Road police station. This makes the charges serious to investigate if she has blackmailed more parliamentarians in a similar way." said a senior police officer.
