Will ensure fair and equitable development in my constituency: BJP candidate Manish Yadav

The first list of candidates declared by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) for the Haryana assembly on September 30 elections sprung a surprise for many observers after one of the doyens in Haryana politics, veteran Ahirwal leader and a cabinet minister in the Haryana government holding key portfolios Rao Narbir Singh was denied a ticket from Badshahpur.

The largest constituency in Gurugram Vidhan Sabha was won by Rao Narbir Singh by a margin of over 80,000 votes in 2014. Rao Narbir has been replaced by Manish Yadav who will turn 37 years in age just a week before the declaration of election results on October 24.

Son of a former sarpanch in Sikander Pur Ghosi village, Yadav has obtained a master's degree in real estate management and financing. He was working in his own real estate firm in the USA, untill he returned back to India in 2008 and joined BJP. He was elevated to the position of state president of the youth wing (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha) of BJP in Haryana. Interestingly, Yadav lobbied hard for the Badshahpur constituency ticket in 2009 and in 2014 but could not get the ticket at that time. Yadav is known for his organisational skills.

In a candid conversation with Millennium Post correspondent Piyush Ohrie, Yadav speaks of why BJP this time will deliver its best result in Haryana assembly elections, his vision for his constituency and the solution to the challenges that are being faced by the citizens of the constituency he will fight to win.

What gives you the confidence that BJP will be able to achieve the ambitious target of winning 75 out of 90 seats this time in the Haryana assembly elections?

The confidence comes out of us being connected with people on the ground. Not only are the voters happy with the work of the Narendra Modi government in the center but they are also extremely satisfied with the work of the Manohar Lal Khattar government in the state.

The Manohar Lal government has successfully demonstrated that a corruption-free government works without favour and bias does result in the progress for the region. Our principle Haryana ek, Haryanvi ek (one Haryana, one Haryanvi) has found a resonance with the people.

What is your vision for your constituency?

Badshahpur is the largest constituency in Gurugram Vidhan Sabha seat. Badshahpur consists of urban as well as rural voters. My priority, therefore, is to ensure that there is balanced and equitable development where each and every citizenry is benefitted from the government schemes. I want to improve the infrastructure and my focus will be to reform the primary educational and healthcare centers. Harnessing water harvesting techniques is also on my agenda.

Does the opposition claim that basic services like education, medicine and power have only deteriorated in your five years of governance? How do you counter these allegations?

Unlike the previous governments, BJP, when it came to power, was committed to improving the basic services. We have set up a structure and the work is going on the reformation. Gurugram University, Mata Sheetala medical college, and smart grid power project is the evidence on the ground of how we have dealt with the challenges effectively.

How will you tackle with those builders who have duped the homebuyers by not delivering the flats or providing substandard quality houses?

We understand the pain of home buyers and that is why we set up Haryana real estate regulatory act. Builders who are not complying with the laws and not paying heed to homebuyers, interest will be booked as per law.

Most of the areas in your constituency get waterlogged with few millimeters of rainfall? How do you wish to deal with this challenge if you win the seat?

Our government worked on the widening of Badhahpur drain and this has yielded results. We have also worked on improving the drainage system and are in the process of reviving water embankments. All these processes will ensure that the residents of Gurugram would not have to suffer because of rains.
