Wanted in 40 robbery, snatching cases in MP, trio arrested
NEW DELHI: The Delhi police has arrested three notorious and active members of an interstate 'Afzal Gang'. Crime Branch has busted the gang involved in committing incidents of snatching and robbery in different states.
The three arrested accused have been identified as Wahid, Afzal and Sonu.
A tip-off was received by crime branch that a gang of robbers, lured innocent victims to sell or exchange dummy mobiles to them at handsome prices. However, in case the victim refused to the exchange offer, they used to rob their mobile phone, cash money and valuable belongings at knife-point. The gang is wanted in more than 40 different cases of snatching and robbery registered with different Police Stations in Madhya Pradesh. They were on the run and frequently changing their locations or whereabouts to evade their arrest. Further information was received that the members of the gang were residing somewhere in the locality of Zakir Nagar,Okhla, Delhi.
A raid was conducted at their hideout in the area of Zakir Nagar, Okhla. Sensing the presence of police, one prime accused namely Sonu Malik tried to run away from there, but he was apprehended after a chase, whereas other accused namely Wahid was apprehended from his flat. On the instance of accused Sonu Malik, the kingpin of the gang namely Afzal was apprehended from the jurisdiction of PS Lisadi Gate, Meerut.
