Noida: Bridging the NMRC and DMRC metro rail networks, a 300-meter long walkway connecting Sector 51 aqua line metro station to Sector 52 blue line metro station which has been constructed by Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC) was inaugurated on Sunday.

The inauguration was done by Durga Shankar Mishra secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in the presence of Alok Tandon managing director NMRC, Narendra Bhushan CEO Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), PD Upadhyay executive director NMRC and other officials.

Apart from this, Mishra also flagged off 10 solar powered e–rickshaws that will carry passengers free of cost on this stretch. Officials said that the walkway will benefit a large number of people coming from various parts of Delhi and going to Greater Noida for professional and academic purposes.

"The walkway is a part of an effort to provide seamless connectivity between the NMRC and DMRC networks. The Walkway has helped in giving a boost to the ridership of NMRC considerably over the past few months as the ridership of the Aqua Line is consistently showing an upward trend. The commuters have expressed satisfaction with this facility and are using it to interchange between the Aqua Line and Blue Line," said a senior NMRC officer.

The officer further informed that the Commuters can either use the free E-Rickshaw service to travel between the stations or can commute by walking. The time taken to travel between the two stations in E – Rickshaw is 1 minute 17 seconds and by walking the time taken is 3 minutes.

The Walkway also has provisions for Café / Vendor Zone as part of the future planning where small stalls of eatables / cafes will be opened. NMRC will also be providing parking space close to the Walkway in the near future.

Noida Authority will also be helping NMRC in making the Walkway commuter friendly by providing free public convenience service in the coming days, the official claimed.
