Victim catches snatcher despite being injured

New Delhi: A man was shot and his mobile was snatched in Bhajanpura area. Police have arrested two accused in the case. Despite being injured, one of the snatchers was nabbed by the victim.

According to the police, on March 17 they received a PCR call at Bhajanpura police station regarding firing and gunshot injury to a person opposite Mayur restaurant, in Yamuna Vihar.

The call was assigned to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satender, who along with staff reached the spot and met one ASI Ravinder, presently posted in complaint branch central district. He handed over the accused identified as Imran in New Mustafabad area along with pistol, magzine loaded with three live cartridges.

ASI Satender recorded his statement wherein he stated that when he was returning to his home after meeting his relative, Dharmesh Sharma, he noticed that three persons were involved in an argument with each other. Meanwhile, he heard two rounds of firing. One of the person of them shouted "pakdo pakdo Inhone mera mobile chheen liya hain".

"ASI Ravinder stopped his bike and chased one of the accused who was equipped with a pistol. After chasing for 50-60 metres, he nabbed the accused and somehow overpowered him, forcibly dispossessed him of the pistol," an officer said.

Later, police was informed about the incident.

During investigation, another accused identified as Imran was nabbed by victim Saurabh Gupta on the spot. On inspection of the place of occurrence, two used cartridges (7.65mm) were recovered from the place of occurrence. Victim Saurabh Gupta has sustained fire injury around the pubic region.

"ASI Ravinder has done an exemplary work without fearing for his life and nabbed notorious criminal," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Sanjay Bhatia.

Recently on March 4, a three-year-old girl had become the victim of snatching in Bhalswa Dairy of Outer North Delhi. Police have arrested two accused in the case.
