Vajra Vahan now modified control room

New Delhi: Anti-riot vehicle of Delhi Police popularly known as Vajra Vahan, which is used to control any trouble in the city, will now be working as a mobile police control room as it will be modified to give law enforcement agency more help during any programme including protests and demonstration.
For the first time, Central Delhi Police will have a proper modified vehicle which they can use during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
According to a senior police officer, the Vajra Vahan will consist of CCTV system in which four cameras will be attached in separate parts of the vehicle and one camera will move 360 degrees to keep a tab on the situation.
A wireless set connecting all police stations in the district will be present in the vehicle. If any untoward incident took place, the police personnel can contact other police stations for extra force. All the protest will be recorded by the cameras. The vehicle will also have first-aid kit and cordless loudspeakers. From the vehicle, the police personnel sitting inside can keep a tab on the whole district. Two fire extinguishers are also kept in the vehicle.
The Central district is being looked after by DCP Mandeep Singh Randhawa, Additional DCP (1) Anto Alphonse and Additional DCP-II Jimmy Chiram. For Delhi Police, the year 2017 was quite a busy one as more than 9,000 programmes including demonstrations and dharnas were held in the national Capital. The police claimed that along with law and order, they put emphasis on communal harmony.
According to Delhi Police data, there were 3,521 dharnas in the National Capital whereas the streets of the city witnessed 1,586 demonstrations, 751 meetings and 320 processions. There were also 595 strikes and 443 rallies and marches. More than 2,000 programme were miscellaneous. The Central Delhi witnessed 75 processions, 144 demonstrations, 15 strikes, 62 rallies and marches, 15 strikes and 97 dharnas. The communal situation in the district remained absolutely under control and all major law and order arrangements were dealt with successfully.
