Upset over 'bullying' in school, 15-year-old hangs self

Allegedly upset over being bullied by classmates, a standard nine student committed suicide by hanging himself from a rope attached to the ceiling fan at his residence in village Sarfabad, Noida in the small hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vishal Thakur, a student of Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Noida.

The incident took place at around 2 am on Tuesday.

"The parents were also present at home. After repeated knockings, they peeped through the window when they saw his hanging body,"said cops sources.

Also, after receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and he was taken to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

"The body was later handed over to the parents after carrying out the autopsy,"said a senior police official from sector 49 police stations, Noida.

The investigations have revealed that the 15-year-old boy was good in studies.

"Further investigations are on. We will ascertain the actual reason behind the sad demise,"added the police.

Shattered by Vishal's death, his father Kamal Thakur, had only one question, "Why did he do this?"

Though no suicide note was recovered, his father informed the cops that Vishal was depressed over something unknown.

"He was under stress since past few days as he remained silent throughout. He even skipped his school for past three days and remained at home only because he kept saying that other students made fun of him. I never realised he would take such an extreme step. He was a well-behaved child,"added Thakur.

He also stated that his son was good in academics and aspired to become a high-level officer.

"We even spoke to his class teacher but she was clueless over the actual reason behind his silence.

The teacher also denied about any such like bully. The child kept everything to himself and didn't share it with anyone,"he added.

According to Vishal's teachers, he was relatively a quiet child.

"We never got any complaint about him.

Although he did not perform exceedingly well, he was slightly above average and was moderate academically,"said one of his teachers.
