Uneasy calm prevails in Tis Hazari premises after clash

New Delhi: A day after the clash between lawyers and Delhi Police, an uneasy calm prevails in the premises of Tis Hazari court. The special investigation team (SIT) of the Crime Branch visited the spot.

Meanwhile, the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has decided to grant monetary help to the lawyers who were injured during the incident.

At the premises of the court, forces from Central Reserve Police (CRP) and Delhi Police personnel were deployed. Later, the crime branch SIT team formed under DCP Joy Tirkey reached the court for the investigation.

Special Commissioner of Police (crime & EOW) Satish Golcha also reached the spot and inspected the place of the incident. Sources said that the inspection took place for more than two hours.

The Mobile Forensic Team (Crime Scene Investigation Unit) of the Delhi Government was also involved in the inspection.

Meanwhile, various videos of the incidents were taking rounds on the internet in which the incident can be seen. At the premises, scattered panes of vehicle's windows were lying. Welding work was also going on at the spot.

Sources told that the Delhi Police had directed their officers that adequate police arrangements in and around court premises to be made as the number of police officers & personnel will come to courts on Monday for deposing their evidence.

"Security of all the police posts and locks up which are located in the court premises to be extra strengthened," police told their officers.

Undertrial prisoners (UTPs) may not be allowed to transport to the courts until the situation turns normal.

Meanwhile, the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) in their resolution stated that during the incident, one lawyer was hit by the bullet in chest and another lawyer's fingers have been

imputed.

"BCD has decided to grant Rs 2 lakh each to two lawyers in ICU in addition to their medical expenses and Rs 50,000 each to the lawyers who got injured in lathi charge," said KC Mittal, chairman of BCD adding that, they stand with all the lawyers in Delhi and unitedly they will fight against all the atrocities and

brutalities.

Meanwhile, the city police in their press statement said that when the lawyers stormed in the police lockup, police had to resort firing aiming in the air for the safety of UTPs and in self-defence.

"The circumstances of gunshot injury to the lawyer are being further investigated with the help of CFSL team," reads the press statement.

Meanwhile, a group of lawyers were also seen at the spot on Sunday. They were protesting against the incident.

On the other hand, Delhi Police said that lawyers had forcefully entered the lockup and started manhandling them.

According to Delhi Police, they will ensure compliance of High Court orders.
