Undertrial prisoner kills himself in Tihar

New Delhi: An undertrial prisoner reportedly committed suicide inside Tihar jail by hanging himself on Saturday evening, Delhi Police said.

The information was received at Hari Nagar police station from Central Jail No. 5, regarding the death of undertrial prisoner Soniram.

Soniram had been incarcerated as per a a case filed against him at Kashmiri Gate police station, under sections 392, 394, 397, 411, 34 of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 27 of the Arms Act.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajender visited the spot and informed the Metropolitan Magistrate.

"No suicide note was found at the spot. The dead body has been preserved at the mortuary DDU Hospital." DCP (West) Vijay Kumar said on Saturday.
