Unauthorised construction: SDMC razes seven properties
New Delhi: The building department of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday took stringent action against unauthorised constructions across Chhattarpur Enclave, Freedom Fighter Colony and Kishangarh, wherein seven properties were demolished and rendered uninhabitable, so as to leave no scope for any further unauthorised constructions or its use.
Separate demolition teams were constituted to take appropriate action. Three properties each in B-block Chhattarpur Enclave and A block Freedom Fighter Colony, and one property in Kishangarh were demolished.
The demolition drive is being undertaken as per provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporations Act ,1957.
The building department has also been issuing notices to unscrupulous builders, as it has been observed that such builders were targeting gullible citizens by promising them more habitable space at cheaper cost, without getting building plans sanctioned.
In the last two months, the department has taken 116 demolition drives and 51 sealing drives against unauthorised constructions.
