Gurugram: Forget those citizens who are financially well-off, it seems even common citizens are not safe on Gurugram roads. The perils to the safety of ordinary citizens again came to the fore after a truck driver was shot dead. The main reason cited for killing the truck driver who has been identified as Gudu Singh was a failed robbery attempt.
The brazen incident occurred at Bilapsur, a village on the outskirts of the city that is located along the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The incident just comes days after a priest narrowly survived after being shot by unidentified assailants.
In Monday's case also, there have been reports that the unidentified men wanted to rob the person and after failing to do so fired gun shots that pierced through his body.
The challenge of law and order in Gurugram can be gauged from the fact that on an average, there are two snatching incidents daily, eight vehicles stolen in a day and six houses burgled on daily basis. Moreover, to ensure the safety of women on the streets, police patrolling has been intensified to prevent crimes against women.
