Two women killed in roof collapse

New Delhi: Two women died after a portion of a roof collapsed in Shahdara district. Police said that the deceased were buying vegetable when the incident took place. A case under appropriate sections of IPC has been registered.

According to police, the deceased were identified as Sumitra (64) and Savitri (55), both residents of Ram Nagar area. The incident took place at the Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara.

According to a senior police officer, the incident took place on Thursday evening.

The victims were buying vegetables when a portion of the roof fell on them.

Hearing the noise, nearby residents rushed to the spot. Later police were informed about the incident.

The victims were rushed to the hospital where Savitri (deceased) was declared brought dead. Sumitra (deceased) succumbed to injuries during the treatment, police said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Ved Prakash Surya said that they are investigating the case. When asked whether any person was arrested, he stated that they are investigating the

case.

"After the completion of the investigation, we will come to know about the negligence and action will be taken," said Surya.

Police have questioned several persons to get a further clue in the case.
