Two Ukrainian nationals held for ATM card cloning of different countries
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested two Ukranian nationals for cloning ATM cards and cheating several people in various countries and then flying to India to withdraw cash. The two have been identified as Mykhailo Lukianoe and Maksym Dorofeiev.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the duo along with their other four associates also from Ukraine had stolen the data of ATM cards from different countries and later cloned them over the plastic cards meant to be used in hotels gift cards. Each card is given an Sl. No. and the Card No. and its PIN number is noted down on a paper against its serial. After collecting sufficient data and completion of the cloning process, the gang members flew to different countries on tourist Visa to withdraw cash. After withdrawing cash they convert the local currency into Dollar/Euroand and return to their country.
Delhi Police in Rajouri Garden received secret information regarding suspicious transaction by some foreign nationals at State Bank of India ATM situated near Tagore Garden Metro Station. The information was immediately shared with the senior officers and a trap was laid. After a short while, the team spotted two foreign nationals coming from Red Light side. Both were arrested.
"They kept misleading the raiding team by presenting wrong facts. The duo was subjected to sustained and in-depth interrogation and it was revealed that the recovered cards were cloned by them and they had come straight away from Ukraine to India to withdraw cash from these cloned cards. 137 plain plastic cards carrying serial numbers written by marker and having a magnetic strip on rear side have been receoverd from their possession," said Additional DCP West Sameer Sharma.
Delhi police is interrogating them to find out the source of data related to cloned cards and other vital information related to the case. Raids are being conducted to nab their remaining associates at their possible hideouts.
