Two thieves who had expertise in stealing high-end cars arrested

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested two car thieves who had expertise in stealing high-end cars by attaching a new ECM thus bypassing the original system and start the car within 10-15 minutes. Three cars and two bikes have been recovered. Both accused Neeraj and Zeeshan are residents of Delhi and were arrested from Mayapuri.

During interrogation, accused Neeraj Tiwari and his associate Zeeshan disclosed that they met in jail and became friends. Neeraj Tiwari is an expert in broke opening high-end cars and starts the cars by installing a new ECM thus bypassing the original system and start the car within 10-15 minutes.

Neeraj used to dispose the cars through Zeeshan on a commission basis. Zeeshan runs a car repairing shop in Seemapuri and has good contacts among auto lifters and their receivers from Meerut, Moradabad and Delhi. He takes Rs 20,000-25,000 as commission for disposing the cars. Earlier, Neeraj was arrested in February 2019 and 10 stolen cars were recovered from his possession.

At that time he used to dispose the cars to his receivers in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Since his arrest in February and release in May, 2019 he was not able to procure the computer system used for programming keys of new model high-end cars, he was dealing in old cars and the cars which are started by inserting keys. "In self-start cars he needs the machine which costs Rs 2-3 lakhs. Zeeshan was also arrested several times in cases of auto thefts and is a good mechanic. The gang members usually used stolen motorcycles and cars for committing their criminal activity," said Sameer Sharma, Additional DCP, West Delhi.
