Two stabbed to death in outer Delhi by masked assailants

New Delhi: Masked knife-wielding men caused panic on Wednesday night in I-block area of outer Delhi's Mangolpuri after they murdered two men and injured five other people, with eyewitnesses claiming that the assailants randomly attacked people.

Delhi Police on Thursday said the two victims were identified as 47-year-old Karmveer and 35-year-old Dinesh.

Cops added that around 10.30 am, residents of I-Block saw several men armed with pistols and knives, searching for some men and hurling abuses at whoever came in their way.

They first caught Karmveer and stabbed him multiple times, said sources.

"My father was stabbed by unknown men with a knife. We immediately rushed him to the hospital on the scooty. But, he bled profusely and the doctors could not save him," said Jitender, Karmveer's son.

He added that the assailants first abused Karmveer while he was standing outside his residence. When he opposed to their activities, the assailants overpowered him and stabbed him multiple times.

When Karmveer's neighbour Dinesh tried to rescue him, the culprits turned towards Dinesh and also fatally stabbed him.

"Dinesh had nothing to do with any fight, he was caught by the attackers and stabbed multiple times. He had just returned from work when the masked men caught him," said a relative of Dinesh.

"It seems the attackers came to attack a rival member of another gang. However, after they were not able to find their target, they started attacking the bystanders and passerby," said a police officer.

The officer added that the accused were accomplices of one Prince, who died on Wednesday after allegedly being attacked by a rival group of rowdies.

The group which carried out the knife attacks were out to take revenge for the death, he further said.

Cops have detained a juvenile in the case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
