Two snatchers held from Rohini

New Delhi: After a brief exchange of fire special cell of Delhi Police arrested two snatchers Akash and Karan from Rohini area on Sunday.Police have recovered two illegal firearms along with six live cartridges.According to police on October 20, information was received that both the accused would come on their bike near Bahadur Shah Marg, towards Begumpur in Rohini to meet their contact and they would have illegal arms. A trap was laid at Bahadur Shah Marg.

At about 9:05 pm, two persons were spotted coming from the Begumpur side on a blue colour bike. The police team intercepted their bike and warned them to surrender, but despite clear and loud warning both the accused persons took out their pistols and fired upon the police party. One bullet hit the bulletproof jacket of sub-inspector Parveen Kumar while one bullet hit bulletproof Jacket of constable Dilbag Singh.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that in self-defence, the police team also fired and during the exchange of fire one bullet hit the right leg of Akash and one bullet hit the left leg of Karan. Both accused were then apprehended by the police party.
