Two persons including juvenile apprehended for committing theft in Metro
New Delhi: Two persons including a juvenile were apprehended in separate cases for committing theft with Metro commuters. Police said that both the accused were targeting crowded metro stations and trains.
According to police, on November 27, a 16-year-old juvenile was apprehended for committing theft at Chandni Chowk Metro station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Vikram Porwal said that the juvenile was found roaming at the platform. He was questioned by the police staff.
"The boy continuously changed his name and address. On the suspicious activity of the boy, the search was made and during search two mobile phones were recovered from his possession," said DCP Porwal.
Police said that the juvenile used to operate in Metro and Railway Stations to commit theft for about last two years.
"He keeps a watch over the passengers having a good profile who may carry money or mobile phones with them," said Porwal.
Meanwhile, in another case, a 23-year-old thief identified as Nitesh was arrested by Metro police.
"The accused is addicted to drugs and works at a saree shop in Chandni Chowk. He fell into bad habits and started taking alcohol and drugs. He is not able to fulfil the needs of his family and the needs of his habits. So he started committing such crimes," said DCP Porwal.
