In an alleged case of drug overdose, two girls belonging to North East were declared brought dead by the doctors at Safdarjung Hospital on Friday.
At around 9:20 am, Clara and Rakil both aged 22 were admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in South Delhi. The duo was brought to the hospital by their friend Jenny and her cousin Lian.
When doctors tried to get the history of the night before, friends of the deceased stated that probably the duo did drugs in the preceding night. The cops took over the case after they were informed by the hospital authorities.
"Both the ladies visited Jenny's room in Munirka at 6 pm and had stayed overnight while Jenny went to her office in the night where she works as a BPO employee," said a senior police officer.
After completing her shift, when Jenny returned on Friday morning, no one opened the door even after repeated knocking. Suspicious Jenny pushed the window door only to notice the two girls Clara and Rakil were lying unconscious.
Sensing danger, Jenny informed her cousin Lian who immediately came to Munirka. Following this, the duo was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital.
"We have sealed the room where the two ladies have spent their last night. The room has been inspected by the forensic team and all crucial evidence has been collected," said a police officer.
Both Clara and Rakil were from Aizwal, Mizoram. The cops have informed their families of the tragedy. Clara came to Delhi a year ago and was presently unemployed. Previously she was working as on adhoc basis in temporary jobs.
Rakil also a resident of the same was residing in Lucknow before she came to Delhi. She was a friend of Clara and had joined her on Thursday.
The prima-facie enquiry into the incident has indicated overuse of drugs. The police have made a formal request for constituting a medical board for the post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
